How This All Started
It was 2011. We were living through the Great Recession on one income — I was a stay-at-home mom, and my husband’s job felt one pink slip away from disappearing. I had a quiet, persistent feeling I couldn’t shake: we have to diversify, and we need a plan.
I didn’t have a business, just a couple of cash-flow negative rentals. I didn’t have business cards. What I had was a hunch — and then I found a site called BiggerPockets.
Reading the forums on their website, I realized something that changed the trajectory of our family: real, regular people were actually building wealth through real estate. When I heard BiggerPockets was hosting their very first conference in Denver, I bought a ticket and went. No plan. No pitch. Just a willingness to be in the room.
And in that room, something clicked. I felt at ease. I felt like I belonged. I came home and got to work.
From A Meetup of 5 to
Idaho’s Largest Investor Community
We amped up our investing as much as we could, and I got my real estate license. In 2014, I hosted my first investor meetup in Idaho.
Five people showed up.
But that small room paid off immediately. I picked up an off-market property through those early connections and met two vendors I still use today — proof of what Idaho REIN would be built on: if there’s value here for me, there’s value here for others.
I kept hosting them year after year — because I knew what being in the room had done for me, and I wanted that for other Idahoans.
By 2023, with COVID behind us, it was time to get back in the room and make this something official, intentional, and meaningful.
Idaho REIN was born.
In 2024, we became Idaho’s only affiliate of the National Real Estate Investing Association — a community of 40,000+ investors nationwide.
Today, Idaho REIN is the largest and most credible investor community in the state — 180+ members, thousands of attendees, and a growing network committed to investing well together.
